Faversham Nautical Festival
This year the festival will be run by the Faversham Rotary Club and the Faversham Creek Trust.
Residents and visitors can see the many beautiful and mainly traditional vessels that have been invited to moor in the upper regions of the Creek over the weekend There will be Thames Sailing Barges, Dutch Barges, tugs, smacks and many smaller boats. The vessels will be ‘dressed overall’ which makes a colourful display, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to see inside these historic vessels and to understand how the large coastal barges were designed to ‘shoot the bridges’ with just a man and a boy as crew.
On Town Quay, there will be a photographic and art exhibition in the Sea Cadets’ medieval building TS Hazard, there will be information stalls, exhibitions, a beer tent, Bar-b-cue and folk music. This will be the place to socialise, relax and enjoy listening to the many live musicians who will play shanties and other traditional music throughout both days.
On Front Brents, across the Creek, there will be various stalls where local artists will show and sell their craft, another music stand, bars,a bouncy castle, ice creams, a pirate ship and much more.
